Students are at the centre of everything we do and we want them to have high aspirations and to excel academically and socially. Through collaboration, every aspect of our work is of high quality.
At Studio West we put students at the centre of everything we do. We strive each day to provide a wealth of academic and extra-curricular opportunities, so our young people grow into successful students who achieve well and socially responsible and caring citizens, who make a difference to this wonderful community.
As a studio school, our holistic curriculum, which includes links with local business partners, provides opportunities for students to develop and apply a range of skills, including teamwork, critical thinking and broader life skills. Students of all abilities can thrive in this exciting learning environment, which nurtures their aspiration and improves their life chances, with high expectations and a good quality of education.
I am very proud to be leading Studio West, where every day we work together to lead with integrity, kindness and inclusiveness.
Andrew Dryden | Principal
We are delighted to be part of Northern Leaders Trust and together we are committed to providing an excellent education for the children in our communities. We want every student to achieve their academic potential and grow in confidence as future leaders.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Bill Jordon CBE on 14 March 2025.
Bill was a wonderfully supportive Member at Northern Leaders Trust, who also spent a term as Interim Headteacher at Kenton School in 2022.
Bill was awarded a CBE for Services to Education in 2004, and his wisdom, experience, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with him. We would like to thank Bill for his service and our heartfelt thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
And Bill, we will always remember your wise words and strive to live by them - "Keep on keeping on."

Teachers of the Future
We have been delighted to welcome Trainee Teachers from Northumbria's PGCE in Art, Design and Craft to Studio West today to learn about Food Technology. The trainee teachers have been based in our Food Technology Department and have been learning about the subject how it is taught and food hygiene.
Some of our fantastic Food students in Years 7 and 10 have led the practical workshops and we are so so impressed with them.

KS3 Homework
As part of our ongoing effort to support students' learning, we will be distributing homework booklets to pupils this week. These booklets are designed to help reinforce the material covered in class and provide valuable practice outside of school hours.
- The homework booklets are an important tool to support student learning in school.
- Completing the work will help strengthen their understanding of the subjects being taught.
Please encourage our students to complete the homework for each subject as it’s an excellent way to improve their skills and prepare for future lessons.
If you have any questions or need additional materials, please see Mrs Malik

We help our students to attain high standards in all areas of the curriculum and make outstanding progress in the core subjects of English, mathematics, science and computer science.
We want our students to develop confidence and enjoyment of learning and life at Studio West. We also want our students to feel supported and develop the skills to be able to learn independently.
We aim to create in our students the desire to be respectful of others, develop high aspirations, make an active contribution to their community and embrace values which galvanise their future lives as parents, carers, workers and citizens.
We hope to equip our students with the skills and abilities they need to thrive in today’s modern world.
